Considered as being one of the most perfect expressions of the Romanesque art in Normandy, the abbey of Lessay would be the first one to have been built with vaults on intersections of the ribs in the occidental world, what represents a remarkable technical headway !

ABBAYE DE LA LUCERNE
Built in the second half of the XIIth century, the abbey of Lucerne was restored in the XVth and in the XIIth century. In a shaded and picturesque site rise the Romanic constructions, of Cistercian spirit by their sobriety and their rigor. The set is dominated by an English-Norman tower which already announces the Gothic architecture.

LES PLAGES DU DEBARQUEMENT ET LE CIMETIERE AMERICAIN
All the Norman coast is the witness of this asaut gigantic which was going to free many years' France of German occupation. Then today, to walk on these beaches, it is made everywhere, a tribute was returned to all these people. To those who left and to those who stayed and who are our report.

Inaugurated in 1956, Normandy American Cemetery was built in the heart of a vast space of 70 hectares granted by France in United States. Overhanging the beach of Omaha, it gathers 9386 perfectly aligned gravestones and a Garden of the Missing persons where remain engravedthe names of 1557 soldiers, the American cemetery invites in the meditation and in the memory.

Bayeux is a city of memory : memory of the conquest of England by Guillaume Le Conquérant in the XIth century and the famous Bayeux Tapestry which redraws this battle by the menu, the memory of time with its cathedral and its medieval center, memory of the everyday life with its lace appreciated, memory of the people with its museum memorial because it was in 1944 the first city of freed France.
